FOCUS OF MODULES

The modules taught at the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) Leadership School are focused on both leader development (expanding the capacity of individuals for effective leadership roles and processes) and leadership development (expansion of organisations’ capacity to enact basic leadership tasks including setting direction, creating alignment and maintaining commitment).

At the end, we produce leaders who will know how to mobilise others to get extraordinary things done in organisations and nations; to transform values into actions, visions into realities, obstacles into innovations, separateness into solidarity, and risks into rewards.

The modules are designed to equip students with leadership skills for the transformation of organisations and society. It provides learners with tools and frameworks to develop vision and become better leaders.

OBJECTIVES

  • To train leaders to become top strategists who can envision the future and map out strategies to achieve it.
  • To unravel the complexity of leadership and provide frameworks that help people become great leaders through both leader development and leadership development.
  • To equip participants with leadership skills for transformation of organisations and society.

Centre LSD Leadership School: Course Descriptions and Competency Framework

The Centre LSD Leadership School is committed to developing transformational, ethical, and strategic African leaders who can mobilize others to achieve extraordinary results. The curriculum emphasizes leader development (expanding the capacity of individuals for effective leadership roles and processes) and leadership development (building organizational capacity for direction, alignment, and commitment).

At the end of the programme, participants become leaders capable of:

  • Transforming values into actions
  • Turning visions into realities
  • Converting obstacles into innovations
  • Building solidarity out of separateness

The modules cultivate visionary, ethical, and service-oriented leadership for organizational and societal transformation.

COMPETENCY DESIGN FRAMEWORK

The curriculum adopts the Taxonomy of Significant Learning developed by Dr. L. Dee Fink (2003) to structure learning outcomes across six domains:

  1. Foundational Knowledge – Understanding concepts, frameworks, and perspectives.
  2. Application – Developing critical, practical, and creative thinking skills.
  3. Integration – Connecting learning to wider contexts and disciplines.
  4. Human Dimension – Understanding oneself and others in leadership interactions.
  5. Caring – Cultivating empathy, values, and moral responsibility.
  6. Learning How to Learn – Developing habits for lifelong, self-directed leadership growth.
